31 January 2025: International Mathematical Modelling Challenge (IMMC)
New Zealand will again be participating in the International Mathematical Modelling Challenge for 2025 (https://immchallenge.org/). Dr Kerri Spooner is the contact for New Zealand. Each country can have up to two teams consisting of four enrolled secondary school students and one teacher/faculty advisor. The contest runs from Feb through to late April. During this time teams chose five (5) consecutive days to work together on the problem. To enable the top two entries to represent New Zealand to be selected, the nominated five-day consecutive working days period needs to be completed by Monday 21st April 2025. This is a true team competition. Real problems require a mix of different kinds of mathematics for their analysis and solution. Real problems take time and team work. IMMC provides students with a deeper experience both of how mathematics can explain our world and what working with mathematics can look like.
