8 July 2025: Pan-Ethnic STEAM Pathways Day

Four members of our Centre prepared hands-on activities and/or made demonstrations at the Pan-Ethnic STEAM Pathways Day for year 9-13 school students on the AUT City campus: Professor Allan Blackman, Dr Armagan Sabetian (science); Professor Nurul Sarkar (computer science); and Dr Sergiy Klymchuk (mathematics). The event was supported by the New Zealand Ministry of Education and it was very successful. Below are some comments from the participants:

  • Thank you for organising this event. My son has been talking about it the whole time coming home!
  • It felt great to be with others who were like me and to see people at uni who also looked like me. It made me feel like I was meant to be there. Thank you.
  • Thank you. It was my first time at university. I feel like as a single mum that I want to study too!
  • Thank you for doing this. The speaker at the end was helpful I am more clearer now that I can do 2 different studies.
  • Will we have another event like this? I told my friends and they want to come as well!
  • Thank you very much. Everyone was so welcoming and patient with us.
