16 June 2025: Congratulations to Dr Kerri Spooner as New Zealand representative of the International Mathematical Modelling Challenge

Kerri Spooner was invited to the International Mathematical Modelling Challenge (IMMC) Summit cum Award Ceremony in Hong Kong from 21-25 July 2025. This year the New Zealand Team from Macleans College was among the  top 10 Outstanding and Meritorious International Award winners. This is an acknowledgement of Kerri’s contributions as the New Zealand IMMC Co-ordinator since 2016.

Kerri’s leadership has been influential in fostering a culture of mathematical modelling thinking and innovation among New Zealand students. Under her co-ordination, New Zealand teams have consistently demonstrated exceptional talent and creativity on the international stage. Notable achievements include:

• 2025: Macleans College is among the  top 10 Outstanding and Meritorious International Award winners. The Macleans team have been invited to the ceremonies in Hong Kong where the final announcement of Outstanding teams will take place.
• 2022: St Andrew’s College was one of the three  Outstanding International Award Winners.
• 2021: Mt Roskill Grammar School earned a  Meritorious Award, one of only six teams globally to do so.
• 2019: Manurewa High School was among the  top 5 Meritorious International Award Winners, with their work featured on national New Zealand media (TVNZ Seven Sharp).
• 2016: Whangarei Boys High School received a  Meritorious Award.

In addition to these accolades, New Zealand teams have regularly received  Honourable Mentions.
