18 June 2025: Seminar by Jorrit Bergsma, Chartered Professional Engineer

Hands-On Engineering with Constructables

Research in cognitive science shows that using one’s hands during learning activities strengthens conceptual understanding and long-term retention, particularly in STEM disciplines. This session will cover the benefits that Constructables bring in bridging the gap between technical and theoretical knowledge to promote STEM education. We will demonstrate how using realistic & simple tools will teach engineering concepts that will stick. We will show how this relates to load paths, load testing, statically determinate/indeterminate structures, and ultimately the design considerations that we make ahead of construction. There will be a live demonstration as well as sets available to try out yourselves during the session.
