9 December 2014: Teaching with Technology Master Class by Travis Smith, Microsoft Australia’s National Education Specialist

Travis explores how technology can support educational success in the 21st century. He looks at new and innovative ways to engage your students and improve learning outcomes through the use of pen-enabled tablet computers, wireless projection, and cloud-enabled collaboration platforms including OneNote, Office Mix and OneDrive.

Session 1: Exploring what education success looks like in the 21st century.

Session 2: Scenarios and demos:

  1. Replace the whiteboard and increase engagement with a pen-enabled tablet computer, OneNote and wireless projection
  2. Enable collaborative learning with OneNote and other cloud-based productivity tools
  3. Flip the learning experience with powerful learning videos created in PowerPoint with Office Mix

About the Speaker. Travis Smith is a National Education Specialist, Microsoft Australia. He has over 11 years' experience in the classroom teaching Psychology, Geography, History and English, and managed the very successful notebook program at Frankston High School in Victoria. During his time at the school he held positions of Leading Teacher in charge of Technology as well as being the Assistant Principal. He lectured at Monash University for many years in the Education Faculty and his strength is the link between highly effective teaching and learning and the role technology can play to enhance it. Travis has now joined the Microsoft team to work with educators around Australia and beyond in the use of technology for powerful learning.
