3-4 December 2018: First Year Science Educators’ Colloquium (FYSEC)

The member of STEM-TEC Wendy Emson is on the organising committee of the national First Year Science Educators’ Colloquium hosted at the University of Auckland and AUT. FYSEC is a forum in which tutors and lecturers from tertiary institutions throughout New Zealand can meet to explore solutions to these challenges. It is also an opportunity to discuss with secondary school teachers how to smooth the transition from school to university, as well as a chance to sample the latest educational technologies and new types of learning spaces. The overarching goal is to deliver a first-year science experience that is second to none.

Two other members Associate Professor Sergiy Klymchuk and Dr Tanya Evans (UoA) present a joint plenary address titled “Evaluating the Impact of the Puzzle-Based Learning Pedagogical Strategy in Tertiary STEM Subjects”. The website of the Colloquium is: http://bit.ly/fysec2018
